Cultivated Plants
Cultivated plants are carefully selected for specific traits that are then propagated to the various cultivars. For example, some ornamental plants are chosen for their color, size and earliness, which is how soon in the growing season the cultivar matures. These domesticated plants can be bred to produce the desired result, from a tasty apple to a fine wine grape to a juicy tomato. Fruits, vegetables and other crops are improved with careful varietal selection.
